ASHEBORO — With its season hanging in the balance, Wayne County Post 11 defeated Camden, SC 9-1 on Friday afternoon to avoid elimination at the American Legion Southeast Regional at McCrary Park in Asheboro.
Post 11 (42-10) fell to Troy, AL 6-2 on Friday morning, in a game rescheduled from Thursday afternoon due to rain.
Against Camden, Wayne County starting pitcher Davis Hathaway earned the win on the mound, and allowed just one run on three hits, with two strikeouts and one walk in 5 1/3 innings pitched.
Ayden West tossed 1 2/3 innings of no-hit, scoreless relief with three strikeouts.
Baines Raynor led Post 11 with three hits and four RBI. Everett Johnson and Davis Albert both contributed two hits, as Wayne County finished with 11 hits.
Wayne County faces Chesapeake, Va. in an elimination game at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Chesapeake lost to Troy 8-0 on Friday night.
