Elizabeth Anne Galloway Stocks

August 8, 2024, 88, Goldsboro —

On August 8th, 2024, Elizabeth Anne Galloway Stocks, age 88, found her eternal peace.

Mrs. Stocks was born on January 7th, 1936 to the late Bryan and Agnes Galloway. She grew up in Lumberton, NC. Following high school, she attended Business School. Throughout her career, she applied the knowledge she obtained to become a well-respected and admired professional. She worked in administrative roles for the state of NC for 35 years, retiring in 1996 from O’Berry Center in Goldsboro. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time crocheting and the art of stained glass. Her donated afghans were always highly sought after at church charity events and auctions, and she made sure that every child, grandchild, and friend had a custom-made creation. She was never far from her fur babies, who brought her great joy.

Elizabeth called Goldsboro home for 54 years, before moving to Henderson 4 years ago, so her daughter could assist her with physical care. While in Goldsboro, she was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. After moving, she was affiliated with Tabernacle Methodist Church in Townsville, NC.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Bob Maynard Stocks, her son Roger Warren Ackiss (Sharon), and her brother Archie Galloway. She is survived by her daughters, Christine Ackiss Watson (Tim) and Teresa Ackiss Mims (Kevin); Sister, Nancy Sealey (Clinton); Brothers, Billy Galloway and Dickie Galloway (Phyllis); 8 grandchildren – Jason Ackiss (Julie, deceased), Jonathan Herring, David Herring, Melanie Caroon (Josh), Jamie Watson (Lisa), Tara Fones (Bobby), Brandon Jones (Michelle) and Danielle Brown (Scott); 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

A service to celebrate Elizabeth’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tabernacle Methodist Church, P.O. Box 100, Townsville, NC 27584.
