Rose Marie Beasley Gurganus, a Dudley area resident, passed away at her home early Sunday evening, August 4, 2024. She was 75 years of age.
Mrs. Gurganus, a Wayne County native, had earned an associate degree in nursing from Wayne Community College. She used her nurturing and nursing skills as a registered nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She had worshipped at Salem Advent Christian Church in Mount Olive when her health allowed.
She is survived by five children and their spouses, Wendy Marie Soto and Jeff Soto of Hope Mills, James Vincent “Jimmy” Leon IV and Mary Ann Leon of Pikeville, Mark Jason Leon and Trish Leon of Grantham, Daniel Jackson “Dan” Gurganus and Lara Gurganus of Charlotte, and Melinda Carol Gardner and Jay Gardner of Seven Springs; a sister, Jo Ann Beasley of Mount Olive; a brother, N. J. Beasley, Jr. of Seven Springs; beloved grandchildren, Jessica Marie Morris and husband, Matt, Derek Allan Soto, Jay Leon, Sarah Marie Leon, Ashley Nicole Leon, Matthew Charles Leon, Christopher Lee Best, Connor Gurganus, Tanner Gray Gurganus, Emily Gurganus, Jackson Gurganus, Daniel Gurganus, and Laura Grady and husband, Joshua; and great-grandchildren, Ethan Morris, Caroline Morris, Laila Soto, C. J. Best, Jason Hadley Leon, Timothy Grady, and another “on the way.”
Her husband, Charles Leamon Gurganus; a son, Charles Bryant “Chuck” Gurganus; and her parents, Norwood J. and Lora Dean “Tot” Creech Beasley, preceded her in death.
Services at which to remember her life will be Wednesday, August 7, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive, followed by visitation. Committal rites with burial will be Thursday, August 8, at 11 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.
