August 16, 2024, 64, La Grange —

Shirley Turner Howard, age 64, went home to the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on August 16, 2024, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro, NC

Shirley attended Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church in La Grange. She was a devout Christian and loved everyone she came in contact with. Her love for Jesus was enormous. Her passion was always to help others come to know Jesus as well as she did. Her second passion was for animals. She always wanted to adopt any and all… especially dogs.

The most noble and courageous decision she made in her earthly life was to donate her body to Duke University so that the medical field and those who choose that path can become the best. If it were not for people like Shirley, who willingly made this amazing choice, doctors and nurses would never be able to advance modern medicine.

Shirley leaves behind many family members and special friends whom she loved dearly.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Her family and friends would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and all other staff at Wayne Memorial Hospital and Kitty Askins Hospice Center for all the love and wonderful care they gave Shirley.
