The City of Goldsboro issued an advisory on Monday evening to all city water customers on Slocumb Street from Day Circle to Seymour Homes to boil their water as a precautionary measure.
The advisory is due to the repair of a water line break and a temporary interruption of service in the water distribution system.
All customers on Slocumb Street from Day Circle to Seymour Homes are affected, and the city recommends using bottled water or boiling tap water for three minutes and letting it cool before using it for:
- Drinking
- Making ice
- Food preparation
- Brushing teeth
- Other purposes that involve consuming water
Boiling water is a precaution when water service has been interrupted.
The City of Goldsboro has no indication at this time that its water is unsafe to drink.
To ensure the water is safe, the city has collected samples from the area where the break occurred for testing in our laboratory.
The city expects to receive the results within 24 hours and will notify customers when there is no further need to boil water or regarding any further precautions or restrictions on using our drinking water.
City water customers may experience discolored water (red, brown, or milky-colored) which can be caused by harmless sediment and/or air bubbles.
To clear up the discoloration, the city advises customers to run cold water through their bathtub or other faucets for 5 to 10 minutes. If discoloration persists after performing these measures, contact the Distributions and Collections division immediately at (919) 734-8674.
