August 24, 2024, 67, Goldsboro —

Marion Russell Pipkin, III, 67, peacefully passed away at Rex Hospital in Raleigh on Saturday, August 24, 2024.  Better known to everyone as Buddy, he was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina to the late Marion Russell Pipkin Jr. and Doris Mumford Pipkin.

Buddy retired from CSX Railroad in 2012 after 35 years of service. He held several positions with the railroad including clerk, yardmaster, and dispatcher. He was an avid rail fan and would travel with friends to nearby crossings to watch the trains pass by.

As a member of Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, he participated in the men’s bible study, and congregational care, and served as a greeter. He was also a member of the Golden Kiwanis Club (Goldsboro Golden K) where he received the Kiwanian of the Year award 2020-2021.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Carter Pipkin, and (step)daughter, Kathleen Shore.

A celebration of life will be held at Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, with Pastor Ryan Rasmussen officiating. The family will receive friends in the hour prior from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will conclude at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cornerstone Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 401 N. Oak Forest Road, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
