August 31, 2024, 59, Goldsboro —
Steven Michael Buchanan, 59, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at his home. Steve was born in Marion, Virginia to the late Buck and Betty Buchanan on November 25, 1964. As the son of a military family, Steve lived in many places including Germany where he attended Bitburg High School and later graduated from Eastern Wayne High School in Goldsboro.
Employed with LKQ in La Grange, Steve was knowledgeable of his trade and beneficial to the auto parts industry. He loved his Harley Davidson motorcycles and would ride them to any destination as often as he could. With a great love of music, a natural ear, and exceptional talent, Steve was an accomplished pianist and guitarist. Also talented as a painter, he enjoyed the opportunity of sharing his talents with others.
Possessing great pride in his family genealogy, Steve was often seen wearing his kilt and representing his heritage. Steve’s love for family was beyond compare. His animals were equally a part of his family and he was heartbroken by the loss of his dog Zeus, earlier this year. They were the best of friends.
Having been a member of The First Church in Goldsboro, Steve helped for many years in their Judgement Day Drama. After experiencing the ministry of Blended Fellowship, Steve felt the calling to begin worshiping at Blended Fellowship and participate in the ministry to help the deaf.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Blended Fellowship, 2091 Big Daddy’s Road, Pikeville. A service to celebrate Steve’s life will follow the visitation at 7:30 p.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Doug Seymour officiating.
Steve is survived by his wife of 22 years, Shannon Grigg Buchanan; sons, Dustin Kelsey Buchanan and Michael Davis and wife, Victoria; daughter, Alexis Buchanan Born and husband, Cameron; brother, Mark Buchanan and wife, Diane; and several nieces and nephews he loved very much.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in his memory to Blended Fellowship, P.O. Box 448, Pikeville, NC 27863.
Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
