September 5, 2024, 89, Bath —

Jesse Earl Lucas, 89, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at ECU Health Beaufort Hospital. Born in Wilson County on October 15, 1934, he was the son of the late William Arthur and Addie Nichols Lucas.

In addition to his parents, Jesse was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Roberts Lucas, and brother, Robert Carl Lucas.

Jesse is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Angela Lucas; several other extended family members; and his grand-dog, Rocky.

Jesse proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for many years as a carpenter and later worked and retired from Firestone in Wilson.

Jesse lived in the Lucama area of Wilson County until six years ago when he relocated to Bath, NC to live with his son and daughter-in-law.

Jesse loved watching good Westerns and baseball games on television while eating Hershey Bars and drinking orange drinks.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Ferrell Cemetery on Morningside Road in the Black Creek Community of Wilson. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
