NCDOT Seeking Volunteers for Fall Litter Sweep

NCDOT Seeking Volunteers for Fall Litter Sweep

RALEIGH – Roll up your sleeves and join the N.C. Department of Transportation as it cleans up roadside trash during the Fall Litter Sweep from Sept. 14-28.

NCDOT needs volunteers to clear roadside litter and help keep North Carolina’s roadsides beautiful. NCDOT county maintenance offices will provide volunteers with gloves, safety vests, and bags.

Every spring and fall, North Carolina communities come together for the NCDOT Litter Sweep, making a visible difference in our environment. Starting Saturday, volunteers will once again hit the roads to help protect our landscapes and keep North Carolina safe and clean.

“We’re excited to see volunteers out there throughout the entire sweep,” said David Harris, NCDOT’s Roadside environmental engineer. “Their hard work ensures our roadsides stay clean and welcoming for everyone. We’re grateful for their dedication.”

NCDOT’s maintenance crews and other staff will also dedicate the week to removing roadside debris and collecting the bags filled by volunteers. For more information, visit the Litter Sweep webpage.
