September 12, 2024, 46, Clayton —

Crystal Dawn Benson Bishop, 46, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 12, 2024.  Crystal was born on March 4, 1978, in Wayne County to Christopher Mike Benson and Helen Irene Johnson Benson.  

Crystal was a good-hearted soul; she had aspirations to be a nurse since she was 10 years old.  She fulfilled that dream at Barton College and went to work at Rex Hospital in the intensive care unit for 12 years.  Crystal also loved to make crafts; such as needlepoint and scrapbooks.  She also loved to cook.  Most of all, Crystal loved her animals, any animals.  She had two dogs and two cats.  She loved her family very much and will forever and always be daddy’s little girl.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Christopher Bishop; and brothers. Chris Benson and wife, Jennifer of Clayton and Shane Benson and wife, Jody of Clayton; nephews, Blake Benson, Garrett Benson, Dalton Pate, and Carson Balance; niece, Morgan Benson; uncles, Mark Benson and wife, Wanda, Marvin Johnson and wife, Patsy, and Don Johnson; aunts, Pam Driver, and Renee Benson; and many other nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel with the Reverend Duane Casey officiating. 

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.
