During the past several months, officers with the Goldsboro Police Department have responded to numerous reports of motor vehicle break-ins within the city in which a window of the vehicle was broken out as a means to enter the vehicle and remove various items.
These cases were assigned to the Property Crimes Unit within the Criminal Investigations Division at the Goldsboro Police Department.
During the investigation into these crimes, a suspect was developed.
On Tuesday, warrants were secured against the suspect, identified as Joshua Cox, 31, Goldsboro.
Cox was charged with 44 counts of felony breaking and entering a motor vehicle, four counts of felony larceny after breaking and entering, 17 counts of felony financial transaction card theft, three counts of felony larceny of a firearm, and nine counts of misdemeanor larceny. The warrants were served on Cox while he was already in the custody of the Wayne County Detention Center on unrelated charges.
Cox remains at the Wayne County Detention Center on these charges and had a first appearance on Wednesday. He is currently under a cumulative $620,000 secured bond.
