With profound sorrow and empathy, the Staff and Management of Williams & Ashford Funeral Directors humbly announce the earthly transition of Ms. Mable Williams, 72. Ms . Williams transitioned at the Willow Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation, Goldsboro, NC.
Mable Lee Williams was born June 3, 1952, to the late Timothy Cox of Princeton, NC, and Leona Cox of Goldsboro, NC. She departed this earthly life on Thursday, October 3, 2024. She was preceded in death by five (5) siblings: Lemuel Cox, Diane Cox, Frankie Cox, Needham Cox, and Lettie Cox-Rowe.
Mable was a 1970 graduate of Goldsboro High School. She worked for several years as a finisher with Kemp Furniture. She attended Wayne Community College where she received her Nurse’s Assistant Certification, specializing in geriatric healthcare. Her career didn’t end after her retirement. She was the ultimate caregiver, always there to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Mable was an active member of the Sheepfold Church of Jesus in Goldsboro, NC, for her entire life. She loved church, shopping, vacationing, dining out, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She was renowned for her excellent potato salad and turkey salad.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Rufus Williams of Goldsboro, NC; three children, Angel Yelverton and Felicia “Lisa” Dawson of Goldsboro, NC and Jammie Whitfield (Isanita) of Laurel, MD; four sisters, Carolyn Bryant, Mary Cox Perry (Stephen), Twanna Cox Davis, Sarah Eason (Curtis); three brothers, Dallas Cox, Kenneth “Teddy” Kornegay (Angela), Timothy Cox; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
