Peggy Howell Lancaster, 84, was received into the presence of her Lord in the afternoon of Monday, October 7, 2024. Peggy was born in Wayne County to the late Jack and Louise Howell on September 14, 1940. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thad Wiley Lancaster, on October 1, 2002.

As a long-time member of Mount Carmel Church, Peggy was deeply devoted to her Lord and possessed a great love for her church family. Second only to the love of her Lord was the love of family. She adored her children, and her grandchildren were her abundant blessings. Peggy kept close contact with her sisters and extended family and was thankful for the bond they shared.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of Mount Carmel Church. A service to celebrate Peggy’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2024, in the sanctuary of Mount Carmel Church with Pastor Amy Kelly officiating. Interment will follow in the Pikeville Cemetery.

Peggy is survived by her son, Michael Lancaster, and wife, Christy; daughter, Betsy Hill and husband, Donald; grandchildren, Chandler Tyndall, Joshua Lancaster, Riley Lancaster (Austin Godley), and Thad Hill (Charlotte James); and sisters, Audrey West and Carolyn Parris.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her memory to Mount Carmel Church, P. O. Box 10, Pikeville, NC 27863.

Services are entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
