On Thursday, at approximately 9:07 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to the Super 8 hotel, located at 708 Corporate Drive, about a robbery that had just occurred.

Latricia Pearsall, 50, stated that she was in the parking lot when a black male subject that she had previously seen in the area came up to her and took her purse and a shopping bag at knifepoint.

The male subject then fled the area on foot. 

A description of the subject was obtained, and the suspect was located with the assistance of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect, identified as Erik Jamell Hamilton, 50, was arrested and charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Hamilton was taken before a Magistrate and left in the custody of the Wayne County Detention Center under no bond pending a first appearance on Friday.
