Goldsboro City Council Announces Search for Next City Manager

Goldsboro City Council Announces Search for Next City Manager

The Goldsboro City Council has decided to initiate a search for the next city manager. Assistant City Manager Matt Livingston has served as interim city manager since Feb. 14 following the departure of former city manager, Tim Salmon.

“The City of Goldsboro thanks Interim City Manager Matt Livingston for his eight months of service as the interim city manager,” said Mayor Charles Gaylor. “Under Mr. Livingston’s leadership, staff has taken on a number of aggressive initiatives to increase the quality of government and quality of life within the city.”

Gaylor said that the city has made many positive strides over the last several months, including getting back on track with audit filings, prioritizing public safety in the budget, and planning for improvements such as a new parks and recreation master plan, a comprehensive land use plan, and a business development plan.

The city is also working on a major wastewater plant expansion and implementing a new process for a citywide five-year capital improvement plan.

Additionally, an internal efficiency and organizational review led by expert consultants is underway.

The next step in this process will be to select an executive search firm and have them present their approach to the Mayor and City Council.  This process will begin immediately.

More information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
