On Saturday at approximately 9:22 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department and deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a ShotSpotter alert and 911 calls in the 800 block of Newsome St.

When officers arrived, they located Daquan Almanta Simms, a 26-year-old male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Simms was transported to UNC Health Wayne for treatment. He was subsequently flown to ECU Health in Greenville for further treatment.

At last report, Simms was listed in critical condition.

The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau was contacted and responded to the scene. The investigation is still ongoing.
