GREENVILLE — A 26-year-old male who was shot on Saturday night in Goldsboro has passed away at ECU Health.
On Saturday at approximately 9:22 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department and deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a ShotSpotter alert and 911 calls in the 800 block of Newsome St.
When officers arrived, they located Daquan Almanta Simms, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Simms was transported to UNC Health Wayne for treatment. He was subsequently flown to ECU Health in Greenville for further treatment.
On Sunday, the Goldsboro Police Department received notice from ECU Health that Simms had succumbed to the injuries he sustained from this incident.
The incident is now being investigated as a homicide. The investigation is ongoing.
