MOUNT OLIVE – Country music sensation and University of Mount Olive alumnus Erik Hawks will be one of the featured performers at the University’s Fall Festival during Homecoming Weekend.
Hawks, a rising star in the country music scene and recipient of the Carolina Country Music Association’s Male Artist of the Year award will perform from 2:45 p.m. to 3:15 on Nov. 16, on the main stage.
Born in Wadesboro and raised in Rockingham, Hawks’ passion for music began early in his life.
As a UMO religion major from 2011 to 2014, Hawks discovered that music was more than a hobby; it was a calling.
As the frontman of Erik Hawks & Hard Luck, Hawks has graced stages across the Southeast, opening for renowned artists like Elvie Shane, Matt Stell, and Scotty McCreery.
His performances at venues such as Lincoln Theater in Raleigh and the House of Blues in North Myrtle Beach, SC, have garnered him widespread acclaim.
In addition to his live performances, Hawks has released three singles and an EP titled The Doghouse Sessions, all available on major streaming platforms.
Fans attending UMO’s Homecoming can look forward to an exciting performance where Hawks will showcase his heartfelt lyrics and Southern charm.
Hawks draws musical inspiration from country greats like Vince Gill and Chris Stapleton, and his performance promises to bring a mix of raw emotion and captivating storytelling.
The Saturday afternoon concert, which runs from noon to 6:30 PM, will feature a variety of musical acts for all tastes, including contemporary Christian artists Consumed by Fire and Caleb and John, as well as bluegrass group Luke Shamblin & Friends.
Hawks’ performance and UMO’s Music Choirs and local talent Zack Lee ensure a day filled with musical diversity and community spirit.
In addition to the concert, guests can enjoy food trucks, vendor booths, and a Kid Zone with bounce houses and activities. One ticket will grant access to the full afternoon of musical performances.
