John Deleon “J.D.” Blizzard, 89, passed away on Saturday, November 16, 2024. He was born in Wayne County to the late Johnnie and Hettie Smith Blizzard on November 9, 1935. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Blizzard.

John loved fishing and woodworking, but most of all his family. He retired from Firestone in Wilson. John was a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Goldsboro where he served as a greeter and was very handy with building the props for their ministry outreach, Judgement Day.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a graveside service at 3:00 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park with Rev. Bill Rose officiating.

John is survived by his wife, Marjorie Lewis Blizzard; sons, Johnny Blizzard and wife, Jennifer and Jeff C. Blizzard; grandchildren, Ryan Killette and Alyce Killette; brother, Wilbert Blizzard, and wife, Ruth; sisters, Shirley Blizzard Murphy and Patsy Blizzard Vinson; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be given in John’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
