Kenneth Wayne Raper, 80, of the Pikeville community went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, November 21, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Homegoing services will be Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont with the Reverend Barry Stallings and Reverend Bryan Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow at Pikeville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Kenneth was born in Wilson County on January 27, 1944, to the late William Arthur and Lucille Barnes Raper. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church. In his younger years, Kenneth served on the Pikeville Fire Department.
He is survived by his children, Lee Raper of Pikeville; Elizabeth Fleming and husband, Walter of Pikeville and Beverly Braswell and husband, J.C. of Pikeville; his brothers, Edward Raper of Wilson and Steve Raper of Pikeville; his sisters, Lottie Raper of Kenly and Deborah Lawson and husband, Bill of Kenly; five grandchildren, Stacey Turner and wife, Jennifer, Landon Fleming and wife, Tabitha, Kelsey Mitchell and husband, Seth, Matthew Kearney and wife, Madison and Macie Trolinger and husband, Chris and his great-grandchildren, Brent, Christoper, Aiden, Layla, Tate, Braylen, Mason, Miller, Nathan and a special great-grandchild, Ellie. Kenneth is also survived by his beloved cat, Dr. Pepper, and his dog, Ozzie whom he loved very much.
In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by the love of his life, Edith Evans Raper; his brothers, John, David, Van, and Timmie Raper and his sister, Phyllis Monteith.
The family is in the care of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 North Pine Street in Fremont.
