Sue Sutton Miller

November 29, 2024, 74, Walstonburg —

October 22, 1950 – November 29, 2024

Sue Sutton Miller, 74, passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024. Sue was born in Pitt County to the late Desmond Dean and Gladys Wooten Sutton on October 22, 1950. In addition to her parents, she was reunited with her husband, PJ Miller; and siblings, Jerry Sutton and Linda Benson.

Working as a teacher in Cumberland County, Sue served the elementary students for many years as a behavioral specialist. For the last twenty years, she worked in market research where her love for travel along with spending time with her husband could both be combined into a job she loved.

Always up for the next great adventure, Sue was on the go. Any chance to take a trip, especially if it was a place she’d never been, she was on the ready. She filled her mind with travels to other times and places through the many books she enjoyed reading. Whether in the historical, romance, or mystery genres, Sue quickly found novels that she dearly loved.

An excellent cook, Sue served many years as the caterer for Garris Chapel Church. Though she could cook anything well, she was known for many delicacies including her lasagna and cinnamon rolls. No matter the meal prepared, people seemed to gravitate to the dessert table where her culinary skills really stood out.

Sue’s love for antiques and antique shopping filled much of her time. She frequented the antique stores in her hometown and was always looking for the next great bargain to add to her collection.

Holding a great love for her family, Sue was delighted to get her family and friends together around the table at her home. This was the best part of all holidays. Gathering with high school friends a couple of times a month was also wonderful, as the group kept up with today’s events and fondly remembered seasons past. Sue’s love for family and friends extended to her faithful canine, Bella, as well. Though Bella could be high-spirited and rambunctious, the two made a great team and were constant companions for each other.

A memorial service to honor Sue’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Rouse Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Brinkley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Tamsey Evans, and husband, Tim; son, Andy Miller; grandchildren, James Kersey and wife, Diana, Logan Thor,n and husband, Michael, and Amber Jones and husband, Michael; great-grandchildren, Amelia Martin and Owen Thorn; and a brother, Tim Sutton.
