Suspect Arrested in First Bank Armed Robbery

A suspect was arrested on Thursday morning in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on Tuesday morning at First Bank, located at 431 N. Spence Ave.

On Tuesday at approximately 10:30 a.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to First Bank for a report of a robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Employees of the business reported that a white male threatened employees and demanded U.S. currency.

The subject fled the business with an undisclosed amount of currency.

During the course of the investigation, a suspect was developed and a warrant for arrest was secured on Jimmie Lee Wiggins, 47, Princeton, for one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.

On Thursday at approximately 11:19 a.m., Wiggins was taken into custody by members of the Goldsboro Police Department and the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office in the 3800 block of Progressive Church Road in Princeton.

The arrest was without incident.

Wiggins was taken before a Magistrate and received no bond pending a first appearance in court.

He was placed in the custody of the Wayne County Detention Center.
