Diane Medlin passed away peacefully Tuesday morning after recent struggles with health issues.

Diane, the eldest daughter to Luby and Christine Powell, was raised in Dover, NC before marrying Tony Medlin of Wake Forest, NC. The couple remained married for 57 years, raising sons Tim and Chad, and residing at different times in Sanford, NC, Pikeville, NC, Emerald Isle, NC and most recently in the Rosewood community of Goldsboro, NC.

Diane was an avid gardener and great cook, who enjoyed spending time outdoors, playing games, dancing, watching movies, and spending time with her grandchildren. With a flair for decorating and entertaining, she was always a vibrant host for friends and family. Diane was also known as the “First Lady” of Pikeville, as her husband served as Mayor of the small Wayne County town from 1997 through 2004.

Diane is survived by her loving husband, Tony Medlin; their sons, Tim Medlin and wife Holly of Snow Hill, NC, and Chad Medlin and wife Scarlet of Elm City, NC; her three sisters, Joyce Sutton and husband Gregg, Peggy McLawhorn, and Debbie Dixon and husband Oscar; and six grandchildren, Chandler Harris, Mary Helen Medlin, Cam Medlin, Anna Katherine Medlin, Charlotte Medlin, and Caroline Medlin.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 20, 2024 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home at 1300 Wayne Memorial Drive in Goldsboro, NC, with a brief memorial service following at 7:00 p.m.
