Jeremiah Alex Hensley

December 21, 2024, 16, Goldsboro —

Jeremiah Alex Hensley, 16, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at ECU Medical Center in Greenville. Born in Wayne County on December 15, 2008, he was the son of Justin B. Jenkins and Ann Hensley.

Jeremiah is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alvin and Cathy Jenkins; and his favorite feline friend, Loki.

Jeremiah is survived by his parents, Justin B. Jenkins (Sally Coone) and Ann Hensley (Roy Wallace); siblings, Kylie Hensley, Avery Hensley, Savannah Seitz, Justin W. Jenkins, and Stella Jenkins; maternal grandparents, Jack and Shirley Hensley; paternal grandparents, Randy and Lisa Coone; Aunt, Amanda Phillips; and best friends, Evan and Colette. Jeremiah is also survived by several cousins that he loved dearly.

Jeremiah was a sophomore at Spring Creek High School, where he brought light, laughter, and infectious energy to everyone around him. Jeremiah’s passions were many, but his love for adventure stood out. Whether he was riding his four-wheeler through the trails, getting his hands dirty while tinkering on his go-kart, or immersing himself in his favorite video games, Jeremiah approached life with fearless enthusiasm. He had a natural curiosity and always found joy in discovering how things worked, often using his creativity to fix, improve, or build something new.

At home, Jeremiah’s playful spirit was ever-present. He had a unique way of showing his love—through good-natured teasing and playful fights with his siblings, always ending with a smile, a laugh, and a hug. His sense of humor was unmatched, and his jokes and lighthearted banter brought warmth to everyone around him. Jeremiah had a way of making people laugh even on the hardest days, a gift he gave generously to his family and friends.

Jeremiah’s presence in the world was a reminder of the power of love, laughter, and living fully. He had a heart that was always open and an energy that was larger than life. His sudden departure leaves an unfillable void, but his spirit, laughter, and joy will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

A memorial service to celebrate Jeremiah’s life will be held in the coming weeks.

Services have been entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home.
