Brent Godwin, 71, of Princeton departed this walk of life Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Rex Health in Raleigh surrounded by his loving family.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.

Brent was born in Wayne County on August 31,1953 to the late George Sydney and Irene Hartley Godwin. He loved to hunt with his beagles along with his grandson, Tanner.

He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Godwin; two sons, Michael Godwin and wife, Donetta of Greenville and Matthew Godwin and wife, Jenny of Goldsboro; one daughter, Amber Godwin Capps and husband, Eric of Grantham; his sisters, Pat Hatem and husband, Jr. of Goldsboro, LaRose Jackson and husband, Billy of Grantham and Debbie Moore and husband, Craig of Princeton; six grandchildren, Tanner and Chase Capps, Stella and Canon Godwin and Ashlyn and Myles Godwin; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends and his beloved beagles.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Alma Irene Martin.
