MOUNT OLIVE – The University of Mount Olive’s Tillman School of Business Department of Accounting and CIS will officially launch the 2024 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program on Feb. 12, led by Dr. Tanya Smith, CPA, and Assistant Dean of the Tillman School of Business Waylon Woodall, CPA.
The VITA program offers University of Mount Olive students valuable hands-on experience in preparing individual tax returns for residents of Mount Olive and nearby communities.
This complimentary service is available to all eligible taxpayers, including UMO students, faculty, staff, and community members.
From Feb. 12 to Apr. 9, individuals can drop off their tax documents to be processed by VITA student volunteers.
After the tax return is completed and quality reviewed, the site coordinator will contact taxpayers to schedule a time to review and approve it before electronic submission to the IRS.
