Ada Belle Smith Reeves, 99, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2024 at Vitas Hospice Center in Florida. Born in Hood Swamp, NC to the late Mark and Arzella Smith on January 19, 1925. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Reeves, Sr.; brothers, Joseph Harper Smith, Dyke Smith and James A. Smith; and sisters, Doris Cobb, Willie Vinson, Jeanette Sutton and Retha Dean Peele.

Belle had been a resident of Rocky Mount for many years and later at Kirkwood Retirement Community in Goldsboro before moving to be near her daughter in Merritt Island, Florida. While living at Kirkwood, she was always involved in the well-being of the residents by serving on the board.

Along with her husband, Belle owned and operated Wholesale Fabrics – Decorator World for many years. She later began working with the Family Shoe Store in Downtown Goldsboro and was considered a valuable employee for over 20 years.

A long-time member of Hood Swamp Friends Church, Belle worshipped her Lord faithfully and made many great friendships with those in the congregation while living in Goldsboro. Second only to her faith was love of her family. She loved deeply, and that love was never more evident than when she was spending time with her children, and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Hood Swamp Friends Church followed by a service to celebrate Belle’s life at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Inurnment will follow in the Vinson Family Cemetery.

Belle is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Kalimnios of Merritt Island; son, Joseph Reginald Reeves, Jr. of Macclesfield, NC; grandchildren, Michael Alexander Kalimnios, Isabella Rose Kalimnios and Zachary Bryce Kalimnios; step-grandson, Kenneth Nicholas Alversa; sister, Annie Smith Rollins and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hood Swamp Friends Church, 710 Hood Swamp Rd., Goldsboro, NC. 27534.
