Lois Marie McLamb Wells, 92, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Born in Durham County on September 2, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Carlie Aaron McLamb and Beatrice Leary McLamb.

In addition to her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Hudson Wells; and siblings, Alta Clements and Robert McLamb.

Lois is survived by her children, Deborah Rose Proffitt and husband, Joe, Samuel Eugene Wells and wife, Connie, Mark Aaron Wells, and David Pender Wells and wife, Abigail; grandchildren, Andy Proffitt, Jason Proffitt, Brittany Proffitt Bridget Heise and husband, Enoch, Abigail McCloud and husband, Kyle, Christina Fleming and husband, Jeremy, Aaron Wells and wife, Samantha, Rebekah Wells, and Daniel Wells; and great-grandchildren, Nehemiah, Miriam, Ezra and Selah Heise, and Magnolia, James, and Cora Leigh Wells. Lois is also survived by four special nephews and many cousins that she loved dearly.

Lois was a woman of unwavering faith and dedication to God. Each day, she devoted herself to reading her Bible and praying, finding strength and guidance in her relationship with the Lord. Her steadfast faith was a powerful testimony to all who knew her, especially her family, whom she deeply loved and influenced with her example.

Lois was a homebody at heart, enjoying the simple pleasures of life, including watching Christian television programs, which helped her grow in her spiritual journey. Her life was a reflection of her commitment to God, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, prayer, and faithfulness.

The family will hold a private service on Monday, January 20, 2025. Lois will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Durham, NC.
