On Thursday, at approximately 10:56 p.m., officers with the Goldsboro Police Department Patrol Shift D were dispatched to the 700 block of S. Slocumb St. for a reported single vehicle traffic crash involving injuries.

When officers arrived on the scene, the driver, Joseph Conrad Cerny, 47, Goldsboro, was found to be unresponsive.

Wayne County Medic 4 responded to the scene, where the driver was pronounced deceased.

The Goldsboro Police Department Traffic Crash Reconstructionist responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. Contact was made with the next of kin.

The investigation is ongoing.
