Annette Hamm Gurley, 85, peacefully departed this life and joyously entered her eternal reward on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. She was born in Wayne County to the late Leamon Hamm and Margaret Yelverton Hamm Batten on December 3, 1939. In addition to her parents, Annette was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Gerald Gene Gurley; and son, Michael Gerald Gurley.

Deeply devoted to her family, Annette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. With a great love of travel, she enjoyed excursions with her family, especially trips to Pigeon Forge.

Well-known and loved within her community, Annette was a faithful member of Bethel Fellowship Church in LaGrange. Having been employed with the Probation and Parole Department for the State of North Carolina for many years, Annette was a dedicated member of their workforce.

With a sweet spirit and outgoing personality, Annette never met a stranger. She was impossible not to love, as her kind smile and welcoming presence reflected her beautiful and sincere spirit. Loving with an unconditional love, the same was returned to her by all. A great void will be felt in the hearts of many family, friends, neighbors, and church members.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service celebrating Annette’s life will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Joseph Franklin officiating. Entombment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Annette is survived by her daughter-in-law, Beth Sauls Gurley; grandson, Travis Gurley (Chelsey); granddaughter, Miranda Gurley (Ashley); great-grandchildren, Jake, Cheyenne, and Kolesyn; sister, Debbie Witherington (Linwood); brother, Richard Hamm; and several beloved nieces and nephews she loved very much.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Annette’s memory to Bethel Fellowship Church.
