Community Baby Shower Being Held Mar. 8

Community Baby Shower Being Held Mar. 8

Maternal mental health (MMH) conditions are the most common complication of pregnancy and birth, affecting nearly 800,000 families annually in the United States.

This means that one in five mothers will be impacted by anxiety, depression, OCD, bipolar, and/or psychosis, which can develop at any point during pregnancy or postpartum.

Sadly, 75% of mothers who are impacted by MMH conditions go untreated. If left untreated, symptoms can last up to three years.

Community baby showers are a unique and interactive way to connect pregnant and postpartum families with local resources and organizations that support healthy living and mental health.

The purpose of community baby showers vary, but most often focus on increasing awareness around safe sleep, infant and maternal mortality, early literacy, and perinatal mental health.

In addition, community baby showers are a way to provide some support around crucial needs, including diapers and wipes.

The Villages of North Carolina is proud to partner with Womb’s Window Goldsboro to host the 2nd annual Wayne County Community Baby Shower! This event will be held on Mar. 8 to connect families with local and regional organizations that support pregnancy, postpartum, parenting, and beyond.

The event is free and open to the public.

The event will be held at Wayne Community College Learning Center Atrium from 10 a.m. to noon.

Sponsorships are available through Mar. 3rd.

All funds will be used to provide diapers/wipes and giveaways to attendees.
