Howard Wayne Franks

February 17, 2025, 53, Goldsboro —

Howard Wayne Franks, 53, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025 at Duke University Hospital in Durham. Howard was born in Nash County to Brenda Moore Franks and the late Wayne Turner Franks on May 26, 1971. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jason Franks.

Employed with Sport Durst, Howard had served as the general sales manager of Sport Durst Volkswagon and Sport Durst Subaru in Jacksonville. Through his time there, fellow employees became great friends. Howard was always willing to go the extra mile to help them any way he could.

Enjoying the great outdoors, Howard was enthralled with a love for the mountains and spending time on his farm in Creston. Time on the water with a fishing pole in hand or out in the woods hunting brought him great joy.

Spending time with family was Howard’s top priority and biggest blessing. Marrying his best friend, Frankie, the two were blessed to both work together and spend a great deal of time with each other at their home in the mountains. A good cook, gathering family around the table was one way Howard loved on his family. He was a great dad and always loved his family for who they were. Weekly worship was shared with their church family at Garris Chapel Church. Many dogs had also joined Howard’s family through the years, and each held a special place in his heart.

After Howard’s cancer diagnosis, he fought hard to spend as much time as possible with his family. He was a valiant fighter and an inspiration to all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Howard’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Adam Brinkley presiding. A private interment will be held at Howard’s favorite place on earth, his family farm in Creston, NC.

In addition to his mother, Howard is survived by his wife, Frankie Korschun Franks, children, Hunter Franks, Martha Ann Korschun, and Mason Franks; sisters, Laura Ann Mann and Jamie Franks; and several nieces and nephews he loved very much.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Howard’s memory to: Garris Chapel Church, Man Up To Cancer; or PD3 Foundation, 2142 Boyce St. Suite 402, Columbia, SC 29201.
