Wayne County Public Schools will hold a job fair from 9 a.m. to Noon on Apr. 5. at Meadow Lane Elementary, at 3500 E. Ash Street.

The district is working to attract prospective certified employees, such as teachers and school counselors, as well as prospective classified employees, such as bus drivers, cafeteria workers, maintenance staff, transportation staff, instructional assistants, receptionists, and other non-certified positions.

“Principals and staff from every school will be on site to answer questions about openings, qualifications, salaries, and benefits,” said Dr. Yvette Smith Mason, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources & Professional Development. “Regardless of position, everyone who works with the school district makes a difference in the lives of students. WCPS offers competitive salaries and touts annual pay increases for classified staff, state health benefits, and retirement benefits.

In addition, WCPS and the Wayne County Board of Education have put in place salary schedules for classified positions which offer a 30 step salary schedule with annual salary increases. Other key employment incentives include:
