On Dec. 10, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reported on human remains that had been located in the 900 block of Dollard Town Road.
The remains were sent to the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for testing and identification.
The Sheriff’s Office has recently received word from the NCOCME that, based on their findings, the remains are
from an unknown female.
The NCOCME reported that the remains were consistent with being “months to years” old and that they based this information on the condition of the remains and their exposure to outside elements.
The NCOCME did determine that the remains were not consistent with Caitlin Hodges, the 29-year-old white female who was reported missing on July 25 to the Goldsboro Police Department.
NCOCME is continuing testing on the remains, and the Sheriff’s Office is hopeful that the remains will one day be identified.
Anyone with information about these remains is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office and Crimestoppers or submit a tip on the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office App located on the Apple and Google Play stores.
