Frances Ann Peragine, 83, a resident of Mount Olive, quietly passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025, after a period of declining health.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York, and spent her early life in New Jersey.  She served in the United States Army, and for which the Bronze Star was bestowed upon her.  She was one of a few women who served in Vietnam during that time.  Captain Pergine had been stationed at Okinawa, and at Fort Simmons in Denver.  She was also at Maddigan in Washington state.  

She was a registered nurse, had been a nurse practitioner, and was a nurse anesthetist.  As a devout Catholic, after last rites were administered to her on Thursday, it was just moments later that she passed away.

Frances is survived by her best friend and companion, Jo Ann Beasley, of the home, and a brother, Frank Peragine of New Jersey.

Her parents were the late Frank and Sophie Kolarcik Paragine.

Captain Peragine’s life will be remembered on Monday, March 24, at 12 Noon at a graveside service in Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.  Presiding will be Chaplain Aaron Bissette, with military honors to be rendered. Visitation with Jo Ann and Frank will be at the cemetery.

In lieu of floral expressions, it is requested that memorial gifts be made to a local animal shelter or rescue, or to one’s favorite charity.
