GOLDSBORO, NC – Elroy Jones of Goldsboro decided to test his luck on a $1 Cash 5 ticket on Wednesday and walked away with the $435,127 jackpot prize. 

Elroy purchased his lucky Quick Pick ticket from the Circle K on North Berkeley Boulevard in Goldsboro. His ticket ended up matching all five numbers in the drawing to win the jackpot. According to statistics the odds of matching all five balls are 1 in 962,598. He claimed his prize at lottery headquarters Friday and, after the required federal and state tax withholdings were taken out, Elroy took home $312,204. 

Cash 5 is one of six lottery games in North Carolina where players have the option of buying their tickets at a retail location or with Online Play through the lottery’s website or the NC Lottery Official Mobile App. Friday’s jackpot is $110,000. Wayne County has received state grants totaling $28.6 million from monies raised by the lottery to help build a new elementary school.
