Robert Lee Kornegay Sr., 78, of Goldsboro passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving and faithful family.
A celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. A private family burial with military honors will be held at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley. The family will greet friends Tuesday prior to the service from 4:00 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Kornegay was born in Wayne County on April 25, 1946 to the late Henry Lee and Christine Lewis Kornegay. He was a faithful member of Thompson Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Being a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, he was also a Mason and retired from Cherry Hospital after many years of dedicated service.
Surviving is his loving wife, Sharron Wilder Kornegay; one son, Robert Lee Kornegay Jr. (Regina) of Dudley; two brothers, Sylvester Kornegay of Goldsboro and King David Kornegay (Eldress Margaret Kornegay) of Goldsboro; step-mother, Eldress Ora Kornegay of Goldsboro; sister-in-law, Lyvone Wallace and husband, Dr. Terry Wallace of Greenville and their daughter, Ashley Lyvone Wallace of Maryland; his granddaughter, Lavonya Rich of Dudley and a host of other relatives and friends.
