Mount Olive Women’s Track & Field Shines with Multiple Victories at Trojan Relays on Senior Day

Mount Olive (April 12th) — The University of Mount Olive women’s track & field team had a strong performance at the Trojan Relays on April 12, with five victories on Senior Day at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.

Key highlights include:

  • Kenisha Barnes achieved an NCAA provisional standard in the hammer throw with a personal-best of 54.88 meters, securing second place.
  • Karla Hormazabal won the triple jump (11.94 meters) and also hit the league qualifying mark in the high jump (1.57 meters).
  • Janara Bryant claimed two wins in the long jump (5.85 meters) and high jump (1.57 meters).
  • Linn Andrea Lindevik won the 800 meters with a time of 2:19.84, and Alyssa Callihan won the 3000 meters steeplechase with a time of 13:41.90.
  • The 4×100-meter relay team placed second with a time of 47.31 seconds, and the 4×400-meter relay team also finished as the runner-up in 4:06.47.

Other notable performances include:

  • Freshman Isabelle Grena placed second in javelin (31.61 meters) and MacKenna Gallon was third (31.42 meters).
  • Keianna Mims achieved a season-best time in the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.54), while Amiliana Simmons was third.
  • In the discus, Barnes placed fifth, and Jasmine Colwell was sixth.

The team will next compete at the App State Open in Boone, North Carolina, on April 18-19.
