MOUNT OLIVE, NC – The University of Mount Olive Tillman School of Business welcomed an inspiring Tillman Executive Roundtable, a distinguished list of business titans who have left an enduring mark on local as well as national businesses. Hosted by a captivated student body, faculty members, and local community members in the historic Rodgers Chapel, the event included a distinguished panel of executive leaders who pooled their deep expertise.
The panel featured three prominent leaders: William H. “Bill” Bryan, Executive Chairman and former President and CEO of Mount Olive Pickle Company; Drew M. Covert, Chairman and CEO of Southern Bank and Trust Company; and Robert L. “Bob” Tillman, former President, CEO, and Chairman of Lowe’s Companies, Inc. Each speaker shared invaluable insights drawn from their extensive careers, touching on key themes such as leadership, innovation, and ethics in business.
In a dynamic exchange, the panelists discussed how to navigate business challenges, develop innovation, and lead with integrity. They spoke from experience, creating a template of leadership for others to follow. “These leaders are not only successful professionals, but visionary leaders who value service and community,” said Dr. Kathy T. Best, Tillman School of Business Dean. “Their leadership will undoubtedly shape the next generation of business leaders.”
For senior business major Macy Parkhurst, who was the event’s moderator, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience to have the opportunity to engage with such powerful leaders. “It was an honor to moderate a discussion with such powerful leaders,” Parkhurst stated. “To hear their stories and wisdom firsthand has given me a greater appreciation of what it means to be a good and ethical leader.”
