GOLDSBORO, NC — The United Way of Wayne County is once again partnering with the National Association of Letter Carriers for the 33rd Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The event is part of the nation’s largest one-day food drive, with the aim of restocking local food pantries during a time when demand is often higher than supply.
Locally, all of the food collected will benefit several Wayne County agencies, including The Community Soup Kitchen of Goldsboro, HGDC Community Crisis Center, The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, AKA Sorority CHIP Program, Hydrant Church, and 4 Day Movement. The goal for this year’s food drive is 15,000 pounds of food.
Residents with the 27530, 27531, 27532, 27533, and 27534 zip codes will receive a reminder postcard and a special plastic bag in which to place non-perishable food items. On May 10, residents are asked to leave the filled bag by their mailbox for their letter carrier to collect on their routine mail delivery route.
In addition to curbside pickup, donations can be dropped off ahead of time in collection boxes located in the lobbies of the Berkeley Station Post Office and the William Street Post Office. Unexpired, non-perishable items, especially canned goods (with pop-top lids, if possible) and boxed or bagged shelf-stable food, are being accepted by the organizers.
Volunteers are also needed to assist with loading and unloading donations on the day of the drive. Volunteers must be able to lift five pounds and not have any mobility problems. Anyone who would like to volunteer may sign up at:
