Shawn Pashelle Kenan peacefully departed his life on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. A beloved husband, devoted father, cherished brother and a dear friend to many, Shawn’s presence brought light, laughter and love to all who knew him. 

Funeral service will be held Friday, April 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. A private family burial will be held at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro. The family will greet friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

Shawn leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife, Alice Kenan; two daughters, Laura Crudup (Brandon) and Trachelle Kenan; four sons, James Andrew Hershberger, Ladaryenne Smith, Tremaine (Talmesha) Smith and Ahkeem Smith; three sisters, Juno Kenan, Tabitha Ragland (Christopher) and Tamara Pittman; two brothers, Sherwood Philyaw and Terrance Pittman; one special brother, Sean Powell; a favorite niece, Talarie Kenan and two special grandchildren, Carter Smith and Noah Smith.
