Wayne County NC – On Monday, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has charged two individuals in connection with a recent theft involving copper wiring and tubing from a hog farm in the Seven Springs area.
The theft, which occurred on two separate dates and was reported on March 31, 2025, prompted an ongoing investigation by sheriff’s deputies. Authorities soon developed evidence linking Anthony Mark Williams to the breaking, entering, and larceny at the farm.
Investigators determined that the stolen copper items were sold to a local recycling company over the course of several days. The copper was allegedly sold not only by Williams, but also by Carol Ann Johnson.
As a result of the investigation, both Williams and Johnson were formally charged on April 14, 2025. The charges include breaking and entering, as well as larceny. Both suspects were served with the charges by the Wayne County Warrant Squad while already being held at the Wayne County Detention Center on unrelated matters. Here are the suspects charges:
Anthony was charged with —
- Felony obtaining property by false pretenses (2 counts)
- Felony conspiracy to commit obtaining property by false pretenses.
Carol was charged with —
- Felony possession of stolen goods,
- Felony obtaining property by false pretenses
- Felony conspiracy to commit obtaining property by false pretenses
Williams and Johnson are currently being held without bond and are awaiting an appearance before a judge.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
