Joyce Ann Rogerson Davis, 89, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Born in Johnston County on April 23, 1936, she was the daughter to the late Samuel Andrew Rogerson and Annie Estell Crocker Rogerson.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Davis; grandson, David Lee Grimsley; and sister, Janice Barbee.
Joyce is survived by her sons, Willard Jeffrey Davis, Stephen Michael Davis, and Bobby Allen Davis; daughters, Sandra Davis Laughinghouse (William), Pamela Sue Pendergraft (Bobby), Teresa Davis Norwick (Brian), Phyllis Davis Grimsley, and Tina Louise Davis; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Joyce is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Patricia Scott.
Born with a nurturing spirit and a boundless love for life’s simple pleasures, Joyce found joy in her garden, where she spent countless hours tending to her flowers. Her yard was a reflection of her soul—vibrant, welcoming, and full of life.
Joyce had a deep love for animals and treated every creature with compassion and care. Her home was always a haven for pets in need and a place filled with warmth and laughter. A skilled seamstress, she found great joy in sewing, crafting beautiful pieces that carried her unique touch and care. In the kitchen, Joyce’s meals brought comfort to all who gathered at her table—each dish made with love and often shared with a story or a smile.
More than anything, Joyce loved her family. She poured her heart into every hug, every conversation, every small moment. Her legacy is one of selflessness, devotion, and unconditional love. To know Joyce was to feel at home in her presence.
A graveside service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 in Kenly Cemetery at 3 p.m. The family will received friends following the service at the cemetery.
