United in Purpose

United Way of Wayne County, in collaboration with Mayor Charles Gaylor and the City of Goldsboro, will host a Community Conversation to address efforts made over the past year to support local youth, families and neighborhoods.  The event will take place on March 31, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM at the United Way of Wayne County, 309 N. William St.

This critical discussion will highlight existing programs, services, and community-driven initiatives that have been implemented to provide opportunities for young people in Wayne County. Community leaders and stakeholders will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and explore proactive solutions to further support youth development and crime prevention.

“As we roll through spring and into summer it is critical that we leave no stone unturned to ensure we minimize learning loss, reduce the trend of summer crime spikes and offer quality activities for youth of all ages” “This is an opportunity for the community to come together to reflect on what has been done and what more we can do to create a safer, more supportive environment for our community,” said Mayor Charles Gaylor

United Way of Wayne County Executive Director Sherry Archibald emphasized the importance of collective action: “Collaboration is key.  We believe that real change happens when the community unites.”

Residents, faith-based organizations, educators, law enforcement, nonprofit organizations, and youth advocates are encouraged to attend and contribute to the discussion.
