PRINCETON – At 3:06 this afternoon, Wayne County 911 received a call from an individual at 219 Capps Bridge Road in Princeton in reference to a suspicious armed individual at their residence.
After arriving, deputies were approached by a male suspect armed with a shotgun. Verbal commands were given to the suspect and he did not comply. After raising the shotgun and ignoring verbal commands, the suspect sustained a gunshot wound from deputies on the scene. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene and no identification is available at this time.
This incident, along with the use of force, is being investigated. The SBI is also now on the scene.

On Aug. 13 at approximately 6:58 p.m., the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a traffic crash at the intersection of E. Elm Street and S. Andrews Avenue.
Upon arriving on the scene, officers discovered that a 29-year-old man, Marquis Jah-El Dawson, operating a 2017 Kawasaki dirt bike traveling eastbound on Elm Street struck the side of a black 2021 Toyota SUV driven by a 53-year-old woman traveling southbound on S. Andrews Avenue. Dawson was pronounced deceased on the scene by EMS personnel.… read more »
