SCHOOLS
All Wayne County Public Schools will dismiss two (2) hours early, today, Tuesday, January 21. All after-school programs are canceled. Additionally, due to anticipated snow and ice, all schools will be CLOSED for students and staff, tomorrow, Wednesday, January 22.
Wayne Preparatory Academy will release two hours earlier today, Tuesday, January 21, at 1 pm. WPA will be closed tomorrow Jan. 22, 2025. In addition, all after-school activities will be canceled, including aftercare and athletics.
Dillard Academy will dismiss at 12:30 pm today. The school will be closed for students and staff tomorrow, Jan 22.
Wayne Christian will close extended care, childcare, and preschool at 5:00 p.m. today and the school, childcare and preschool will remain closed tomorrow, January 22.
The Goldsboro Family YMCA Child Care Center Afterschool Care Program will be closed Wednesday, January 22.
Wayne Community College will close at 5 pm on Tuesday, January 21, and remain closed on Wednesday, January 22.
GOVERNMENT
All Wayne County Government offices will close at 3 p.m. today, January 21, 2025. Offices will remain closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. These closures apply to all non-essential personnel and prioritizes the safety of Wayne County employees and residents. This closure includes the Wayne County Courthouse, all branches of the Wayne County Public Library, Peggy M. Seegars Senior Center, Wayne County Animal Shelter, and the Wayne County Landfill and convenience centers. Superior Resident Court Judge Billy J. Strickland II has announced that all Wayne County courts will follow the same closings above.
The City of Goldsboro offices will close at 3 p.m. today, January 21, 2025. Offices will remain closed on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
The Wayne County Board of Commissioners Budget and Goals Retreat scheduled for Thursday, January 23rd, has been postponed.
